Geoff Buckley MBEng MRICS

Geoff is a chartered building surveyor with over 33 years experience in building control.

He was head of Building Control at Bristol City Council for 7 years prior to establishing Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd, with Nick Lewis, as a Corporate Approved Inspector in the year 2000. Whilst in local government, he was responsible for overseeing all major developments within Bristol during the 1990’s and has continued to develop a proactive approach to the building control process with the company.

Fire Safety Consultant

Nick Lewis FBEng MIFireE

Nick is the company’s leading fire safety consultant.

He has worked in building control since 1987 having previously spent 5 years in the fire prevention section at Avon Fire Brigade. After leaving Bristol City Council, where he was head of the fire safety section, he formed Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd with Geoff Buckley in 2000. Nick provides fire consultancy advice to our clients and is also a lecturer in fire safety to training bodies and other organizations, as well as presenting seminars for the company.

Mike Dutton MRICS

Mike has been with Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd since 2001.

Formally an Area Building Control Officer with Herefordshire Council and Bristol City Council, he has 20 years experience in building control in dealing with major commercial developments including hospitals, schools, offices and mixed-use developments. A former assessor with RICS Building Control Division, he has also received extensive training at the Fire Service College.

Andrew Jeffery MRICS MBEng

Andrew was formally a Chief Building Control Officer with Wansdyke District Council and a Director of Environmental Services for West Somerset District Council.

He has over 32 years experience in building control. A former course leader for the South West Provincial Employers and lecturer in building control, he has been with Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd since 2008.

Fire Safety Advisor

Graham Blight GIFireE

Graham served for 34 years with Avon Fire & Rescue Service, the last 9 years of which were as the lead officer within the fire safety department for new projects.

His extensive knowledge of fire safety in respect of large inner city mixed-use developments, hospitals, schools and residential work means that our clients benefit from his wide experience in the practical application of the building regulations and allied legislation.

Ian Bannerman MRICS

Ian was a Principal Building Control Officer with Gloucester City Council before joining Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd in April 2004.

With 26 years experience in building control, 21 years of which were with local authorities, Ian has gained a wealth of experience in dealing with healthcare premises and education establishments, as well as commercial, industrial and residential projects.

Ian Thorne

Ian joined Buckley-Lewis Partnership Ltd in 2007.

Formally a Building Control Officer with the NHBC, South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council, he has over 34 years experience in building control in the private and public sector. With his wealth of site-based experience Ian has taken responsibility for some of the larger commercial projects within Bristol.
